My Family Culture
The three items I would choose would be:
1. My Bible: The bible represents a 'way of life' for me as well as my family. The Word of Guide provides for me direction and security. Thus, as Life tosses our Physical Bodies to and fro, it is the Bible, the Word of God that will NEVER waiver and continues to hold TRUE!
2. Photos: Memories make a lasting impression on the things that are truly important to me. I would gather as many photos/videos as possible in order to preserve many of the times I have had with my friends and family.
3. My Wedding Band: I have been married to my husband for 5 years and our wedding bands are much more valuable than $. The band symbolizes a never ending/interrupted unit. My husband and I are committed to a covenant made before God and it’s through strife and hard-times that we continue to be strengthened.
*Although cultures, languages, families, etc. are different LOVE is the same. Inevitably, we all need Christ in our life and others to survive.

Janille, we totaly agree. I said that I would take my Bible with me as well. I also said that I would take a acrapbook/photo album that I have. I gave a reaseon that if I had to depart or give up one item that I had taken it would be the Bible that I took with me and the reason behind giving up the Bible would be because I have written the words of it upon the table of my heart. The Bible tells me that I am to write the words upon the table of my heart and that is what I have done. I have studied to show myself approval. No one can take away what is upon the heart.

ReplyDeleteI chose similar items to bring with me! I chose a ring from my husband and our wedding album.
It's interesting how so many people chose photos when asked what if truly important to them. In today's technological world, you would think they might chose something else. I wonder if this will change in the near future.
Janille, I loved the items you chose. I said that I would bring pictures also, but when it came down to choosing just one item, I chose music and left the photos behind. Which one item did you decide you would keep in the end?

ReplyDeleteWe share similar ideas in what we would take with us. I would also, take my bible and my wedding album. I had a tough time deciding on ring or album. I chose my wedding album because it also includes my church home,my friends,and family. Before thinking of my bible I thought my "cross in my pocket" that longer I thought the more I realized I needed something bigger to show my Christian faith. This is not the faith all over the world and where ever I go I want to remember it. This was a difficult assignment thinking of the "what if's". I pray we will never have to.

ReplyDeleteI was reminded of the real importance of our existance when you said love is the same. Love you neighbor as yourself is my motto and I live by that standard that Jesus taught.
